Caryn Mandabach a television sitcom supernova? Not at all. But a great creative leader who has given back its dignity to a faltering medium in helping to redefine its true mission: to combine great education with great entertainment.

TV has often been called the medium which missed its mission. Indeed, Mainstream TV evokes a stagnant, mucky pond rather than a majestically flowing river, and over-adaptation to cheap taste seems to be the general rule. Fortunately for television there are exceptional people who prove that well-researched features and intelligent sitcoms, for instance, can be successful – and not only financially.

Caryn won an Emmy Award in 1986 for the highly popular Cosby Show. In 1987 she became president and executive producer of the famous Carsey-Werner TV production company, who launched the great comedienne Carol Burnett and the shows All in the Family, A Different World and Roseanne.

Amongst her numerous awards: the Genii Award, the Nancy Susan Reynolds Award and the Television Showmanship Award from the Publicists Guild of America.

In 2001 she became a full partner of the Carsey-Werner-Mandabach production company, whose work is distributed in more than 50 languages to some 175 countries.
