Summary
Autonomy implies structural differentiation and functional independence. Individual development moves from total heteronomy (baby) to pseudo-autonomy (rebellion of teenagers) to authentic autonomy (mature adult).

To be creative implies autonomy and, with it, the ability to produce a unique result, not the imitation of what has existed before already. Yet you need to balance autonomy with cooperation and integration, otherwise you will be trapped by the snares of solipsism. An utterly narcissistic individual will never be creative because he/she has got no antennae for criticism and thus he/she will indulge in complacency. Without guts there is no glory.
